A WARM WELCOME, AN EPIC CELEBRATION, AND A PHOTO WITH GAVRIELLA ā€“ IAMCP SOCAL 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Nov 04, 2019What a day! Exactly one week ago, the IAMCP SoCal Chapter celebrated its 10th anniversary - and what an epic event it was. Microsoft Partner attendees flew in from 20 different states and four countries to meet, greet, celebrate, and learn.
I was thrilled to be a part of the event Executive Committee led by the dynamic and wonderful Justin Slagle. A big thank you to him, our Executive Organizing Committee, and to Jenny Burgdorf Events for producing a terrific event.
More than 40 Microsoft Executives came to speak and share stories, and we raised over $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House of Orange County and CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County). We tried to give away a Porsche Macan, but the winner turned around and donated it back to our charities. Amazing! Thank you to the staff of the Hotel Irvine, our volunteers, and our sponsors who made it all possible. I’m personally happy Creative Maven and Clarified Marketing was part of that mix, so thank you, Russ and Ruth.
The event was also special to me because I brought my parents who are so supportive of me and love having a glimpse into my world. They watched the presentations and shared a lot of opinions with me after. I was very interested to hear their perspective, and plan to include their thoughts in my upcoming blogs.
There were many highlights to the day, with big thank yous to Gavriella Schuster, Brent Combest, and Beth Cavanaugh for delivering excellent keynotes, and to all the speakers who came. I got so much value out of this day; everyone's content and candor were great, and of course, taking selfies with everyone was awesome.
Also, an extra personal thank you to Gavriella, as my Mom wasn't leaving until she got a picture with her.
I was honored to speak on the Diversity and Inclusion Panel on behalf of The WIT Network. The panel was introduced by their President, Christine Bongard, and moderated by Sarah Geoghgan, who serves as the IAMCP WIT Chapter President here in Southern California.
I was joined by an esteemed set of colleagues: Beth Cavanaugh, Rodney B. Campbell (Microsoft), Seppy Azadi (Korn Ferry), and Dave (Dipak) Shah (Skyworks Solutions, Inc.)
Some takeaways Sarah collected from our panel:
Take the time to pause
Always listen
Pay it forward
Be the change you want to see
Get uncomfortable, Be vulnerable

So Happy 10th Anniversary IAMCP SoCal, and thank you for such a warm welcome into this community. Although I'm still fairly new to the Los Angeles area, I feel like I have a huge new family, and that is all of you.
If you are a Microsoft Partner and have not yet joined your local IAMCP chapter, you should definitely give the organization a look. While you’re at it, why not check two boxes and be a part of ours in SoCal too?
